Guest Appearance on the Countdown to FI Podcast

Guest Appearance on the Countdown to FI PodcastMan, I’ve been on a roll with these podcasts!  My latest appearance was on the Countdown to FI podcast and it was truly a lot of fun!

Mr. and Mrs. CTF are some great peeps to talk to and talk we did!

We stuffed a lot into this show with a lot of discussion that hasn’t been brought up in previous podcasts.

Some of the conversation revolved around our countdown to early retirement and what our plans are.

We discussed the bucket system along with a couple of the ways that we’re planning to pull money out of our retirement accounts early.  If you’re not familiar with the Roth IRA Conversion Ladder or Rule 72(t), we got into those a little bit.

Then we got into our rental property and the one that we just sold (woo-hoo!).

We had a nice long conversation about kids and how that comes into play on the FIRE journey.  This also included talk about how college shouldn’t just be a slam-dunk decision.  The decision on higher education needs to be well thought out by both parents and kids.

I enjoyed that this wasn’t just a one-way monologue – Mr. and Mrs. Countdown to FI also have kids and shared their thoughts as well.

And, of course, we talked Panama as well.  Most of you are already familiar somewhat with our plans on moving to Panama in 2020.  The Countdown to FI folks are checking out some countries of their own so this made the discussion a little more fun.

We did wrap up with some fun discussion on cruises (my favorite kind of vacations!).

And don’t ask me how it happened, but the word “Myspace” even came up in the conversation.  Only with the Countdown to FI folks can a conversation take a turn in that direction!  😉

I really did have a great time on the show and I’m glad I got to be a part of it.

Check it out and let me know what you think…

    1. Haha, I can only imaging the number of people pounding down your door to get to you! You probably walk around with a “no autographs” shirt on 24/7! 🙂

They are pretty fun to do though – if you haven’t done one, you should give it a whirl. Great opportunity for people to get to know you a little better.
