Guest Interview on Financially Alert

Guest Interview on Financially AlertMichael Quan started his blog, Financially Alert, right about the same time as I started Route to Retire (early 2015).

The big difference is that Michael was already financially independent when his blog came out.  He crushed it and retired from the corporate world at 36 in 2012… how cool is that?!

I think we’ve followed each others’ journeys since our sites came out.  We finally had an opportunity to meet at the FinCon personal finance conference a couple of years ago.  Good news – he’s just as nice in person as he comes off on the Financially Alert blog!

Last spring, Michael asked if I would be interested in being part of his “Finding FI” interview series.  Unfortunately, we were a little busy getting ready for a tiny little move to Panama.  So we put it off until we got settled.

Well, the time of getting settled has passed so it’s time to read the interview!  I’m honored to be a part of the series but I loved that he asked a lot of questions that I haven’t talked about before.

We went pretty in-depth on my story and routines before diving into how money was regarded growing up and if I discuss it with friends and family today.

Then Michael asks some good money questions about financial independence – our path to it, sacrifices, and how life has changed since reaching it.

I’d love for you to check it out and let me know what you think.  I think you’ll also love Michael and Financially Alert regardless, so be sure to also browse around there and consider signing up for his email list:

Financially Alert: Finding FI Interview #32: Jim’s Route to Retire Early

#32… that’s not too shabby, right?  That’s still double digits so I’ll take it!  Thanks for letting me be a part of the series, Michael!

Thanks for reading!!
